UA Little Rock – Bulletproof Banner

UA Little Rock Downtown – Learn features educational resources inspired by the Joe Jones mural The Struggle in the South and the historical struggles of Southerners that the mural depicts.

In 1935, Joe Jones painted the mural in the dining hall of Commonwealth College, around 10 miles outside of Mena, Arkansas. Jones was inspired by the lives of working Southerners during the Great Depression.

UA Little Rock is the proud steward of The Struggle in the South.

The mural is currently on display at UA Little Rock Downtown.
